Marjorie

 Norfolk, VA
I saw this concert live stream at a theater. I have never seen the Grateful Dead in concert live so I am coming at this fresh however, I have seen many, many concerts in my life. I grew up with musicians, family and friends my Dad still plays the guitar. My son works for the local Opera and Symphony. This show was born when people wanted to see it. It came together from love of music which has no boundaries of age, perfection, or expectations. Music comes from the soul and reaches out to the souls of others and is accepted, multiplied, and expressed thru movement. When your soul is touched your body cannot help but to be moved and move. I was moved. I also thought the stage and effects were grovey! The music is timeless and has been popular since it's conception, as witnessed by Phish's popularity in continuing with the similar style of music, for the sake of making music. Groovy, Cool, Psychedelic, Grateful Dead, Joy, Fun and just Good Music.

National Women's Law Center
Dear Marjorie,

It started as a very happy pregnancy.

Peggy Young was expecting her third child and working as a UPS driver in Landover, Maryland. Peggy had worked there for 10 years, and she was eager to keep working during her pregnancy. Her family needed the income, and she needed the health benefits. Her midwife recommended that she avoid heavy lifting, but her regular job rarely required it, and in any case, UPS routinely provided light duty to employees with disabilities, on-the-job injuries, and other medical conditions who needed it.

But her employers refused to let Peggy do her regular job — and refused to provide light duty. Instead, they told her she was too much of a liability — and that she couldn’t come back to work until she was no longer pregnant.
For the last six months of her pregnancy, Peggy was forced to go without pay — and she lost her health insurance, too.
No one willing and able to work should be forced off the job because she is pregnant. But that’s exactly what happens to many women like Peggy.

We have until midnight tomorrow to raise another $2,785 to help us fight for women facing challenges in the workplace and beyond. Please click here to chip in $10 or more.
Pregnant women shouldn't have to choose between their health and their jobs. Donate now.

I just could not believe this, when I was pregnant 28 years ago I worked till the last week.

Some pregnant workers need temporary changes in their job duties. But employers often refuse to make even the smallest accommodations — even when they make adjustments for other employees who have temporary disabilities or injuries. As a result, women like Peggy are pushed off the job because they are pregnant.

As a result, too many pregnant women are losing income or being fired at the moment they can least afford it.

Together, we can stop employers who use pregnancy as an excuse to push women out of work.

Click here to contribute $10 or more now to help us meet our goal before midnight Thursday.

Thanks again for your work in support of women and families.

Sincerely,

Emily J. Martin

American Wild Horse Preservation Campaign

American Wild Horse Preservation Campaign

Horses ans burros have been iconic to the "wild west" for decades and now that people are over populating the area they have decided that the horses and burros are in the way so they have been rounding them up for no good purpose.  This needs to stop.  Help us to persuade Sally Jewell the new Interior Secretary that there are much more humane and cost effective ways to handle this situation while treating these beloved animals with some much deserved respect.

Oppose S. 462: Don't Codify Discrimination

While I don't condone an American Citizen being detained in a foreign country I don't feel it's right to give another country carte blanch especially if it's supposed to be only semi-reciprocal.  What stands out in my mind is with out the added security of the visa process we will not know if they are who and what they say they are, at least Israel is on the gate.  Fake passports can be had.

Only my opinion.
